Choosing the right facing brick colour

Matching new brickwork to an existing building is as much about texture and tone variation as it is about the headline colour.

Match in daylight, not indoors

Brick colour can shift noticeably under artificial light. Always compare samples against the existing wall outdoors, ideally at different times of day.

Look at the blend, not one brick

Most facing bricks are supplied as a blend of shades from the same pack — a single sample brick rarely tells the full story. Ask for a sample panel or view several packs before committing.

Consider the mortar too

Mortar colour has a bigger visual impact than most people expect. A buff or sand mortar will read very differently to a dark grey or black mortar against the same brick.

When in doubt, order a small sample pack before committing to a full order — it’s far cheaper than re-ordering later.
