What is a London stock brick?

If you’ve walked around almost any older London street, you’ve seen stock bricks — the warm yellow-brown, slightly weathered bricks that define the capital’s Victorian and Georgian terraces. They’re one of the most requested facing bricks we supply.

Where the name comes from

“Stock” refers to the traditional moulding method, where clay was pressed over a raised board called a stock. London yellow stocks get their distinctive colour from the local clay and the way they were fired, producing the soft, variegated look that’s so hard to imitate with a uniform modern brick.
