How many bricks do I need per m²?

For a standard half-brick (single-skin) wall built with a 10mm mortar joint, you need approximately 60 bricks per square metre.

Working out your total

Multiply the wall area in square metres by 60, then add a wastage allowance for cuts, breakages and snapped headers.

• Straightforward wall, few openings: add 5%
• Wall with several openings, corners or a gable: add 10%
• Complex detailing or reclaimed-style bricks: add 15%

Cavity walls

A standard cavity wall uses the same 60 bricks per m² on the outer skin, plus blockwork on the inner skin — the brick count itself doesn’t change.

Always round up to the nearest full pack, and check the pack quantity on the product page before ordering.
